まるで水彩画のような透明感と空気感を纏った岩切裕子さんの木版画。その画面からは常に物語が溢れ ています。
「本を読むことは、制作と同じくらい大事な位置を占めている。」という岩切さんにとって 「描くこと」=「想像の物語を紡ぐこと」なのでしょう。 版を重ね、色を重ね、時間、記憶、言葉を重ね、 様々な層から生まれたその世界は、時には懐かしさを感じさせ、見る人が自身の物語を重ねることで さらに完成されるのかもしれません。
今回は版画を使った新作の小さなオブジェを中心に、その世界観を作ります。ぜひご高覧ください。

Yuko Iwakiri’s woodblock prints have the transparency and atmosphere of a watercolor painting. The images are always full of stories. Reading books is as important to me as creating. For Iwakiri, “drawing” = “spinning imaginary stories.” The world created from various layers of plates, colors, time, memories, and words sometimes evokes a sense of nostalgia and may be further completed by the viewer’s own stories.
