まるで水彩画のような透明感と空気感を纏った岩切裕子さんの木版画。その画面からは常に物語が溢れ ています。
「本を読むことは、制作と同じくらい大事な位置を占めている。」という岩切さんにとって 「描くこと」=「想像の物語を紡ぐこと」なのでしょう。 版を重ね、色を重ね、時間、記憶、言葉を重ね、 様々な層から生まれたその世界は、時には懐かしさを感じさせ、見る人が自身の物語を重ねることで さらに完成されるのかもしれません。
今回は版画を使った新作の小さなオブジェを中心に、その世界観を作ります。ぜひご高覧ください。

Yuko Iwakiri’s woodblock prints have the transparency and atmosphere of a watercolor painting. The images are always full of stories. Reading books is as important to me as creating. For Iwakiri, “drawing” = “spinning imaginary stories.” The world created from various layers of plates, colors, time, memories, and words sometimes evokes a sense of nostalgia and may be further completed by the viewer’s own stories. この度、初めてWATERMARKで古屋真美さんの作品を紹介します。
私たちの身近な衣服、そのほとんどは大量生産の既製服ですが、袖を通すたびに体に馴染み、
持ち主の気持ちに寄り添い、様々な過去を共有するうちに唯一無二になってゆく。
そんな作者の思いが、リトグラフという版から生まれる複数性の作品へと再生させる行為に
形象化されているようです。そして、ファストファッションが問題視されている現在、簡単
に廃棄されてしまう服たちへの抗いのようにも見えます。
今回、架空の女性の部屋を再現するような展示を試み、作者の世界を表現したいと思います。

古屋真美
個人の所有する衣服をモチーフにリトグラフを制作、それらとの適切な距離を考えています。
1994年山梨県生まれ。2020年武蔵野美術大学大学院造形研究科修士課程美術専攻版画コース卒業。2021 版画工房「LITTLE PRESS STUDIO」オープン。

FURUYA Mami – the room that cannot be moved back

　We will present Mami Furuya’s work for the first time. The clothes we are familiar with are mass-produced, ready-made garments. Still, each time we put them on, they become more familiar to the body, more intimate to the owner’s feelings, and more unique as they share various pasts with the wearer. The artist’s thoughts seem to embody the act of reproducing the plurality of the work from the lithograph plate. And as fast fashion is now considered a problem, it also seems to protest against clothes quickly discarded.
This exhibition attempts to recreate an imaginary woman’s room and expresses the artist’s world. Please visit the show.

Biography of FURUYA Mami
Born 1994 in Yamanashi, Japan, she graduated from Musashino Art University in 2020 with a Master’s degree in Fine Arts, Printmaking Course, Graduate School of Art and Design, 2021 Opened printmaking studio ‘LITTLE PRESS STUDIO’. Produces lithographs with motifs of clothing owned by individuals and considers the appropriate distance from them.
